What is the LINE it! Button?

The “LINE it!” button lets LINE users easily share content from their favorite websites with their friends.


User Flow

The user flow for the “LINE it!” button is as follows.

  • 1. User taps the “LINE it!” button
  • 2. User logs in to LINE using LINE Login
  • 3. User selects who to share the content with. (Content can be shared with friends or posted on the user’s Timeline)

Installation on Smartphone Websites

1.Select Button type

2.Check preview and copy code

Add the following code to your webpage DOM. The code is called on DOMContentLoad events.

Copy the code above and paste it where you want the button to be displayed on your website.
The script tag in the first line only needs to be added once when installing several LINE it! Buttons on one page.

Note that the URL is automatically set to where you call the “LINE it!” button.
Example: If your site is “https://example.com” and you call the “LINE it!” button function on “https://example.com/test.html”, the button will link to “https://example.com/test.html”.

Calling the “LINE it!” button on dynamic websites

On websites which create their content after DOM tree construction, call LineIt.loadButton() to enable the “LINE it!” button.

Technical Specifications

The LINE it! Button can be implemented on websites and apps by sending requests in the following formats.

1.Format 1

Displays the web browser when tapped.
The LINE app will launch automatically if it is installed.

<CONTENT KEY> [any value] Specify value in percent encoded (utf-8) text.
By principle, only the page title and page URL may be specified.
Specifying information irrelevant to the page is prohibited under the Guidelines.

2.Format 2

Launches the LINE app directly when tapped.
No action will take place if the LINE app is not installed. Supports the sending of images.
Sending of images is not supported on iOS7.

  • * For iPhones, images can only be sent from apps. Please refer to the explanation regarding <CONTENT KEY> below for information on how to set the parameters for apps.
  • * For Android devices, images will be saved as local files. Please refer to the explanation regarding <CONTENT KEY> below for information on how to set parameters.
<CONTENT KEY> [any value] Specify value in percent encoded (utf-8) text.
By principle, only the page title and page URL may be specified.
  • * When sending from iPhone apps, please attach the image to the Pasteboard and set a PasteboardName in the following format: line://msg/image/(PasteboardName)
  • * When sending from Android devices, please specify a local image path that can be accessed by LINE in the following format: line://msg/image/(localfilepath)
  • * Specifying information irrelevant to the page is prohibited under the Guidelines.

A zipped archive of the LINE it! Button images can be downloaded by clicking the button below. Please unzip the file to use the images.
The downloaded buttons are twice the display size so as to correspond to Retina Display specifications.
